Road contractor under fire from residents after ‘shoddy’ painting of new white lines OVER dead leaves: ‘The height of laziness’

  • Gold Coast road contractor criticized for lazy and ‘shoddy’ work
  • The council worker painted directly on the leaves along the way.

A town hall contractor has been criticized as lazy after marking a new white line on the road on top of dead leaves.

The questionable efforts of the Gold Coast city worker were scrutinized after a community member discovered his ‘shoddy’ work on Hardys Rd in Mudgeeraba, in the south-west of the city.

The image shared on a local Facebook page showed several meters of the line painted on piles of dead leaves.

While some pointed out that it was not the job of the worker to clean the street and that the blame should lie with the council, most argued that it was not difficult to simply remove the leaves before starting the job.

“Ahhh spending the buck why not install a 2 foot high pressure air nozzle in front of the paint sprayer,” one person commented.

Other social media users called the act “shameful” and “the height of laziness.”

The Gold Coast city has more than 3,200 kilometers of roads.

In the past year alone, the council spent $62 million on 141 highway resurfacing and maintenance projects.

The line is understood to have since been redone.
