Jon Rahm amazed by Gareth Bale’s golf game after sharing nine holes with the former Real Madrid star

World number 3 and US Open winner Jon Rahm was in awe of Gareth Bale’s golf prowess after playing nine holes with the Welsh star at Torrey Pines on Tuesday.

The former Wales, Real Madrid and Tottenham star, who announced his retirement earlier this month, will take part in the upcoming AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February alongside other celebrities and some of the world’s best golfers.

Before the tournament in California, Bale was getting some practice in by joining the Spanish star, who won his last two PGA Tour events, before the Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego.

The 28-year-old Spaniard, who is enjoying a strong season winning three of his last five starts, is one of the favorites to win the event on the same ground where he captured his only major title at the 2021 US Open.

However, Rahm got a run for his money with a unique challenge, as he was paired up with Bale for Tuesday’s Pro-Am and heaped praise on his partner.

“I told Gareth you just can’t be that good at professional soccer and golf at the same time, it just doesn’t seem fair,” Rahm said. The Spanish medium Marca.

‘You can’t dedicate yourself to one thing and still have so much talent for golf, it’s not fair in the least. But he’s thinking of retiring soon and he loves this sport and he loves golf.

“He really wants to play a bit more and hopefully I’ll see him in the Pro-Am more times in the future.”

Rahm was obviously unaware that Bale had already hung up his boots, but he revealed that he didn’t even need to ask for tips or advice when he was on the pitch.

Bale’s love of golf was a point of contention during the last years of his time at Real Madrid.

Now retired, Bale will play in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in California next month.

“He didn’t ask for anything, and he shouldn’t be asking for it to be good enough either,” Rahm replied.

‘Like I said, you don’t have to be that good when you’re a professional football player. By the time he’s done and can practice a lot more, he’ll improve a lot.

He took two hits, which I think is bad enough. He should hit back at the rest of the fans because he’s already a very, very good player.

There will be 156 amateurs taking part at Pebble Beach from February 2-5 and the same number of professionals, including US Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick and world number five Patrick Cantlay.

Other celebrities listed to play include actor Bill Murray and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
