A mother living on one of the Gold Coast’s most elegant streets has asked for public help in identifying a serial ‘spitter’.
The woman, who resides on luxurious Monaco Street in Broadbeach Waters, posted a video and photos to a Facebook community group in an attempt to catch the alleged spitter.
The video shows a lycra-clad cyclist driving past his car and leaning over to spit on him.
She claims that the mystery man does the vile act on an almost daily basis and targets only her car.

“He has been spitting on our car every morning on Monaco Street for the past 10 months and we have no idea why,” he wrote.
“It’s kind of disgusting, especially when I have to wash it before I take my two young children to school to make sure they don’t touch their saliva.”
“As we now have a lot of video footage, we have referred it to the police because it has now turned into harassment and damage to personal property.
“Please help us try to stop this disgusting and cowardly behavior.”
In some cases in Queensland, spitting can be considered a common assault as long as the victim has reason to fear for their safety and the act was done with the intent to intimidate them.
Spitting can also be considered a public order offence, especially if it takes place near a school or other specific location.
For spitting to be considered a crime, it generally must be done aggressively and directed at a person or property.
Supposedly, the man has been spitting on the woman’s car every time she drives by in the morning on Monaco St for the past 10 months “and we have no idea why,” she says.
A Broadbeach police spokesman said they did not know if the case was under investigation.
‘However it could be,’ he said.
A nearby resident who commented on the woman’s post suggested that the cyclist might have a vendetta against her.
“You were probably unknowingly in a near accident with him at some point, however it still doesn’t excuse the behavior.” We all make mistakes,’ he said.
