Australian reality star dies in freak accident as investigation is launched into his sudden death

A much-loved Australian reality star and opal miner killed in a tragic work accident has been remembered as one of a kind.

Outback Opal Hunters star Ronald ‘Ron’ Selig suffered fatal injuries when he fell 5.8 meters from the roof of a workshop at an industrial site in Queensland on November 26.

He made regular appearances on the top-rated series, leading the moving tributes earlier this month.

‘Ron was a much loved member of the Outback Opal Hunters family. A great character and an incredible Opal Hunter, always chasing that color”, published the program.

‘We will always remember Ron fondly.’

Mr. Selig’s grieving family was moved by the show’s moving tribute.

The passing and loss of our father has been the most difficult time for me and our entire family, including Ron’s mother, children, grandchildren and friends, as well as you,” his daughter Mel wrote.

‘Ron is exactly how he is in real life, like he was in The Outback Opal Hunters!’

She remembered her father as the most amazing son, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him.

‘Dad was a kind, caring and fun-loving man, always coming up with the funniest jokes! Ron was a quiet guy too!’ she added.

‘Our family is incredibly grateful that my father/Ron was a part of ‘The Outback Opal Hunters.’

“We’ll also continue to enjoy the episodes he was in, and I’m sure all of you will too.”

‘Thank you again for your loving kindness and condolences to Ron Selig! He was definitely one of a kind to him.

The Inspectorate of Mines and Mineral Quarries announced last week that investigations into the workplace tragedy are continuing.

“The worker is understood to have accessed the shop roof to make repairs following damage from a severe weather event when a structural member failed,” the statement read.
