Joy Behar mocked for suggesting Alec Baldwin was charged with manslaughter because he’s a liberal

The View host Joy Behar has been mocked for suggesting that Alec Baldwin was charged with manslaughter because he is a famous liberal, and for wrongly claiming that the district attorney is a Republican.

Behar said that Mary Carmack-Altwies is a “great Republican” and suggested that the prosecutor was politically motivated because Baldwin “is a target for Republicans.” They can’t stand it.

But Carmack-Altwies is, in fact, a Democrat who took office in 2021. The district attorney, who lives in Santa Fe with her wife and two children, testified Thursday that she was charging Baldwin because she “did not review [the loaded gun]you didn’t do what you were supposed to do to make sure you were safe or to make sure others were safe.

Behar, 80, was ridiculed for her “delusional” claims on Friday’s show, which included defending Baldwin because, as an actor, “all you think about is your part.”

Baldwin was seen entering an office building Friday where he tried to cover his face with a document.

‘You’re not worried…I wasn’t worried that…my bra was going to fall off or whatever. Someone else has to worry about it. You are interested in your lines, in your character,” she said.

Reacting to Behar’s comments, political commentator Jim Treacher tweeted: ‘1. The DA is a Democrat, not a ‘big Republican’ 2. Laws apply to Democrats, even famous people 3. The other four producers didn’t pull the trigger 4. Joy Behar cares more about her friend’s reputation than the life of Halyna Hutchins and her loved ones.

Nicholas Fondacaro, director of the Media Research Center, said: ‘Joy Behar defends Alec Baldwin. She complains that no other producer was charged. She claims that he did not and should not have to check the gun for live bullets.

Conservative pundit Brandon Morse tweeted: “Joy Behar gives an opinion on the Alec Baldwin case so wild his co-hosts can’t follow it.”

The district attorney announced Thursday that Baldwin, 64, and gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, 25, will be charged with manslaughter, 15 months after cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, was shot to death by the actor on the set of Rust in New Mexico.

Baldwin accidentally shot Hutchins after a live bullet ended up in the gun he was handling.

He and Gutierrez-Reed, who loaded the prop weapon that killed Hutchins, face a maximum of 18 months in prison if convicted.

Dave Halls, the deputy chief who delivered the gun to Baldwin, pleaded guilty to one count of negligent use of a deadly weapon.

‘In the state of New Mexico, manslaughter means killing someone inadvertently through negligence. So negligence alone is the standard you have to meet,” he said.

“Guns are used in movies every day and there are processes and steps,” he added.

After a commercial break, Behar corrected her comment that Carmack-Altwies is a Republican.

‘Clarification [on] something I said in the last segment. is the special prosecutor [Andrea Reeb] who is now the Republican politician in New Mexico, and not the current prosecutor. Sometimes I confuse them. So sue me,” Behar said.
