The 10-year-old survivor of the tragic Sea World helicopter crash could now lose his foot as surgeons fight to save the boy’s life, family friends have revealed.

Nicholas Tadros’s mother, Vanessa, was one of four people killed when her joy flight crashed into another helicopter near the Gold Coast theme park on January 2.

Pilot Ash Jenkinson and newlywed British couple Ron and Diane Hughes also died in the tragedy.

Rescuers pulled Nicholas from the rubble with horrific injuries and he spent days on life support in critical condition as he fought to survive.

Now he is facing life-changing surgery after a sudden downturn in his recovery.

“There has been a major setback with Nicholas’s progress,” a family friend posted on Facebook on Saturday morning.

‘Nicholas’s operation could not be completed today and [we] I have returned with some sad news.

Nicholas may need to have his right foot amputated as a result of injuries sustained during the crash.

It comes just days after his mother was laid to rest at a funeral attended by family and friends in western Sydney.

The family friend asked for the public’s prayers for the boy’s father, Simon, who has yet to tell his son that his mother did not survive the crash.

“We really need to continue to pray for Simon as well to help him get through this difficult time as he will have to face Nicholas over the next few days to let him know his mother has been taken to heaven,” the friend said.

Nicholas’s loved ones are concerned that his life-changing surgery will be another “major blow to Nicholas’ mental state” after the devastating loss of his mother.

“Nicholas will need all your prayers for the next two weeks before the surgeons try again,” they said.

‘Please, all we ask is that you continue to pray for God’s will to be done. God bless you.’

The 10-year-old boy has been receiving hospital treatment for almost three weeks after surviving the horrific accident.

He was unable to attend his mother’s funeral.
