FS1 host and former NFL player Shannon Sharpe had to be held by security at Friday’s Lakers-Grizzlies game in Los Angeles after a verbal confrontation with the Memphis players at halftime.
Sharpe was seen singing with Grizzlies veteran Dillon Brooks as the players made their way to the locker room. Memphis center Steven Adams appeared to take offense and confronted the 54-year-old Sharpe, who refused to back down. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies staff tried in vain to restrain the 6-foot-11, 265-pound Adams.
Even Grizzlies star Ja Morant and his father, Tee, were involved in the incident.
“They didn’t want this smoke”, Sharpe told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin before returning to his seat for the third quarter. ‘They do all that talking and maneuvering and I’m not on those maneuvers.’

Sharpe blamed the incident on Brooks.
It started with Dillon Brooks. I said that he was too young to defend LeBron. He said, “F***.” I said, “Fuck you.”
“He started coming up to me and I said, ‘You don’t want these problems.’ And then Ja came out of nowhere talking.
I definitely did not want these problems. Then the dad came and obviously didn’t want any trouble. But he wanted everything they had. Don’t let these fools fool you now.

Sharpe says he told Dillon Brooks (right) that he is too small, at 6-foot-7, to protect the 6-foot-9 LeBron James (left), who allegedly started the confrontation in Los Angeles on Friday night.
Tee Morant, the father of Grizzlies star Ja, said there is no problem between him and Sharpe.
ESPN announcer and former NBA star Mark Jackson described the incident as the broadcast returned from halftime.
“Steven Adams comes to protect his boy, along with his supporting cast,” Jackson said. ‘So, Shannon Sharpe, keep talking. And Tee Morant, Ja Morant’s father, arrives. [I] I had the opportunity to speak with Tee Morant. He said: ‘My blood pressure didn’t go up one bit. Nothing but love and respect for Shannon Sharpe.
‘Just a bunch of guys talking a bunch of crap.’
Play-by-play announcer Mike Breen added, “It’s just silly for him to get like that here.”
There’s some history between Sharpe and the Grizzlies, stemming from comments the Pro Football Hall of Famer made about the young Morant on his FS1 show, ‘Undisputed.’
“The last time the Grizz reached the Western Conference Finals, Ja Morant was 13 years old,” Sharpe said last month. ‘I missed something… Bruh, you guys are no good. You all don’t like that. You don’t have Shaq, you don’t have Kobe, you don’t have Tim Duncan.
