Chelsea owner Todd Boehly gives a thumbs up to his own club’s transfer business by liking a fan’s question on Twitter asking if the Blues got a better deal than Arsenal by signing Chelsea Mykhailo Mudryk instead of Leandro Trossard.

  • Chelsea completed the signing of Mykhailo Mudryk for £88m last weekend
  • Arsenal were also interested in Mudryk, but have now signed Leandro Trossard.
  • A fan asked which club had done the best business in a Twitter post.
  • Chelsea owner Todd Boehly responded to the post and voted for Mudryk.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has taken to Twitter to claim his club have done better business than Arsenal by signing Mykhailo Mudryk, while the Gunners signed Leandro Trossard.

Arsenal seemed to be in pole position to sign Mudryk, but Chelsea hijacked the deal at the last minute and managed to convince the Ukrainian winger to sign for £88m last Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s men responded by adding Trossard to their squad in a deal worth £27m.

Following Trossard’s arrival at the Emirates, a Chelsea fan decided to ask on Twitter which London club had gotten the best deal, giving the options of a ‘like’ for Mudryk and a ‘retweet’ for Trossard.

Boehly didn’t take long to respond, as he supported his club’s decision-making and “liked” the post.

The Chelsea fan was delighted to receive a response from the American owner, as he wrote on Twitter: “Chelsea owner Mr. Boehly has LIKED my post about the Mudryk vs Trossard deal. Thanks @Todd_Boehly!!’

Boehly has taken a hands-on approach at Chelsea since taking over from Roman Abramovich at the helm last May.

He appointed himself interim sporting director early in his tenure, and the club spent £270m in the summer, bringing on Raheem Sterling, Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella, among others.

He has since retired from this position, with Christopher Vivell and Paul Winstanley now in charge of signing new players, but Boehly is still heavily involved.

Chelsea added another four players in January, including Mudryk, and they are getting closer to completing a move for Noni Madueke from PSV Eindhoven.

Mudryk and Trossard could get their first chance to present their cases this weekend for their respective clubs.

Mudryk was pictured training with Chelsea for the first time earlier this week, and could make his debut for Graham Potter’s side when they face Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.

For his part, Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Trossard is available to play against Manchester United the following day after being signed in time to form part of the Gunners’ squad.
