‘I don’t know why he was being so secretive. I think because he was very young and I was embarrassed to tell my mother that I was going on a date.

“My dad is the biggest Liverpool fan on Earth, but I remember telling them when we went on some dates and he was furious.

“He told me: ‘I can’t believe you’re dating a football player.’ It looks so bad.”

“I was thinking, ‘Wait a minute, does he think he’s going to piss me off and take me back to his apartment? Because that’s not happening at all.

Peter responded: ‘It wasn’t a great first date. But at the time I was playing for Liverpool and had just made the England team, so everything for me had to be low key.

‘I had to find a girl that I loved, but I didn’t want to lead you straight into something crazy. I wanted to go where no one could see us and find out if we got along.

Abbey said, “Well, that little wooden stool at the back of an old man’s pub was perfect.”

The former British Next Top Model star arrived at the rendezvous with just £7 in her bag and admitted she had never bought anyone a drink before.

Pete wanted Guinness. So I went to the bar and bought Guinness and a glass of tap water because I was afraid it would cost me more than £7.

Peter described Abbey as “tough to crack”, to which Abbey replied, “Yeah, because I’m not a complete ho.”

Abbey then asked Peter if he considered her ‘frigid’ on the date, but he said: ‘Not a fridge, no.’

Commenting on what she’s like in the bedroom, Abbey proclaimed: “Lady in the street, freak in bed.”

Peter said: ‘She is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. Of course I am a lucky man, it was a beautiful occasion to have with the children there.’

“The first time I was able to enjoy the party,” Abbey added.

The ceremony took place on December 17 in front of their four children, Abbey’s mother Karen and friends on a private island at the Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort.

“We started out together as a young couple, and now here we are with our four children walking us down the aisle. I feel like the luckiest person in the world,’ Abbey told Hello! Magazine.

‘We were going to renew our vows on our 10th anniversary, but with lockdown, we couldn’t do it… Pete is quite the romantic at heart; he’s definitely earned himself brownie points for years to come.’

Peter gushed: “Abbey looked amazing, and even after 11 years, I still got butterflies when she walked down the aisle, she was an isle of stunning, but Ab stole the show. I’m one lucky man.”
