Jordan Safi, stepson of Lametta Fadlallah accused of stabbing grandfather in Roselands, Sydney, home

The man who allegedly stabbed a 91-year-old grandfather to death is the stepson of underworld figure Lametta Fadlallah, who died in a hail of bullets months earlier.

Jordan Safi, 24, who is also the son of Helal Safi, a 200kg standing man, was arrested at a house in Roselands, southwest of Sydney, at around 11:15pm on Wednesday and taken to hospital, where he remains under police surveillance.

His adoptive grandfather Joe Ziri’s body was discovered about two hours earlier on nearby property drenched in a corrosive chemical, resulting in acid burns for two officers who broke into the home.

In August, Fadlallah, 48, was shot dead in a gory execution while sitting in a silver Toyota 4WD outside her home in Hendy St, Panania, in western Sydney.

She had just gotten her hair done and was getting ready for a night on the town with three other people also in the car, including hairdresser Amy Hazouri, 39, who was also shot and killed.

He is the son of former Kings Cross figure Helal Safi (pictured), who died weeks after being released from jail in 2021.

A 16-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man miraculously managed to escape injuries, but are left “incredibly shaken” after the “planned attack.”

CCTV captured another vehicle pulling up next to the Toyota followed by up to a dozen shots.

The Toyota then drove one kilometer away from where the 20- and 16-year-olds called for help.

Police believe that Ms. Hazouri was collateral damage and that Ms. Fadlallah was the intended target.

Ms. Fadlallah is understood to have been associated with underworld figures dating back to the 1990s.

Fadlallah was the long-term girlfriend of Kings Cross identity Helal Safi, who was found dead in a Sydney flat in January 2021 after suffering a heart attack.

Safi, 45, weighing 200kg, was found dead in his Stapleton Street, Pendle Hill unit after a neighbor was heard screaming for help around 4am.

He had been released from prison only weeks earlier, and police located drug paraphernalia in the unit.

The ‘main’ underworld player had close ties to criminals and was feared among the Sydney underworld.

NSW Police said the incident is believed to be linked to domestic violence with police and Fire and Rescue teams (above) seen collecting evidence from the house.

The former Kings Cross cyclist and goalkeeper once survived a 42 stab wound while in jail in 2010.

The injuries put him in a coma for five months, with police saying he only survived because of his size.

His son now faces the prospect of surgery for injuries sustained prior to his arrest.

Superintendent Sheridan Waldau said NSW Police believe the incident is linked to domestic violence.

He added that a male relative on the scene was in great distress and had to be temporarily restrained.

“It was a very volatile and emotional situation last night,” he told reporters on Thursday.

“One of the other family members was quite emotional when the 24-year-old was taken into custody.

“As a result, the police had to intervene and arrest him. He was not arrested and will not be charged. They just held him down and took him away from the scene so we could calm him down.”

At the scene in Roselands, NSW Fire and Rescue teams were called after two officers suffered minor chemical burns.

Superintendent Waldau said the chemical found at the scene was hydrochloric acid, which is commonly used to adjust the PH levels of swimming pools.

She said the substance was scattered around the house but did not appear to be on the body.

The officers were treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to St George’s Hospital, one of whom was given oxygen as treatment for his burns.

Both officers have since been released.
