Two theme park attractions at Movie World were closed due to mechanical failure.

The Green Lantern roller coaster and the Doomsday Destroyer loop ride were closed Wednesday in an announcement made by Movie World.

Both attractions are expected to reopen towards the end of the week.

Movie World explained in a statement that the attractions were closed early in the morning after staff discovered “flaws” during routine inspections.

Movie World closed two theme park attractions on Wednesday morning after staff found ‘faults’ during routine checks.

“The safety of our guests is our top priority and we have a dedicated engineering team that conducts strict and thorough inspections on all attractions prior to opening each day,” the theme park post read.

“During engineering inspections at Movie World this morning (Wednesday), our team identified a flaw with the Green Lantern and Doomsday rides that required further discussion with the international ride manufacturers.”

The theme park also noted that there were minor delays with the opening of the Superman Escape and Scooby-Doo roller coasters on Wednesday.

Both attractions opened later that day, but no reason was given for the temporary closures.

“We understand that these closures may be inconvenient for our guests and our team at the park works with them to help with their individual experiences,” the Movie World post said.

The announcement comes a month after the Doomsday Destroyer malfunctioned, leaving fourteen people hanging upside down.

Theme park goers were left dangling 70 feet in the air when the ride came to a sudden stop for one minute and 54 seconds.

It wasn’t until four maintenance workers ran and slowly lowered the vehicle that those tied up were able to get off.

The ride was closed for the rest of the day while those affected were offered a free day pass.

A theme park spokesperson confirmed that the Doomsday Destroyer’s “security operating system was activated automatically as a result of a sensor activation.”

Recent problems have cropped up at other Gold Coast theme parks, too, with thrill seekers hanging out on the new Leviathan roller coaster at Sea World last Friday.

Staff provided customers with umbrellas to protect them from the glaring sun while waiting to be evacuated after the ride went down.

“It was a standard travel stop,” a Village Roadshow Theme Parks spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.

‘A computer encountered a potential malfunction on the trip and led to the arrest.

“At that time, our staff were able to help customers off the ride and other rides were able to restart.”
