Jay Briscoe’s wife asks for prayers for her injured daughter

The wife of a professional wrestler who was killed in a car accident Tuesday night is asking for prayers for her daughter who remains in critical condition.
AEW star Jay Briscoe, 38, was said to be returning home from his daughters cheerleading competition around 5:30 p.m. when he collided with another vehicle in his hometown of Laurel, Delaware.
He and another anonymous adult were killed on impact, Delaware State Police reports, and her daughters, Gracie and Jayleigh, were transported to a local hospital. Gracie was said to be in critical condition at the time.
Ashley Pugh, the wife of the wrestling star whose real name was Jamin Pugh, wrote on Facebook that 12-year-old Gracie will now undergo surgery and may not be able to walk again while Jayleigh recovers from ” pretty serious injuries.”
She had previously posted a photo of the family heading to the cheerleading competition, stopping for cookies along the way.

His wife, Ashley Pugh, asked for prayers for their daughters on Facebook early Wednesday morning.

‘We need prayers!’ she wrote. ‘Gracie is on her way to surgery on her back.’
She added that ‘Jamin would want the whole world to pray for his little girl. WE BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF PRAYER!!’
Ashley also asked for prayers for the doctors who operated on her young daughter, telling her more than 1,000 Facebook friends: ‘Pray for her precious legs to move again!
“Pray for Jayleigh, who has some pretty serious injuries, but is stable and struggling,” she continued, also asking for prayers for her son, who was home at the time of the accident.
‘Pray for strength for all of us! We have a long, long road ahead of us.
Ashley had previously posted photos from her daughter’s Spirit of Hope cheerleading competition that day, with a selfie showing the Ring of Honor champion driving sitting in the passenger seat and her two daughters sitting in the backseat already dressed and styled for competition.
The family stopped at a local Crumbl Cookies before the competition, and the girls could be seen atop the pyramids and dancing their hearts out in their photos.
Jay Briscoe, whose real name was Jamin Pugh, was remembered Wednesday as a dedicated father and star wrestler.
He and Ashley have three children, a son, Gannon, and daughters Jayleigh and Gracie.

AEW owner Tony Khan announced Briscoe’s passing on Twitter, writing, “Sadly, Jamin Pugh has passed away.”
“Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show to today,” Khan said. ‘Jay and his brother Mark dominated ROH, reigning as champions to this day. We will do what we can to support your family. Rest in peace Jamin’.

Briscoe and his brother, Mark, won their first Ring of Honor tag team titles in 2003.
Briscoe, who was on a team with his brother Mark, was born in Maryland and a long-time resident of Sussex County, Delaware, where his wife grew up.
He and Mark began to make a name for themselves in the early 2000s in the Northeastern United States independent scene, working for more minor production companies such as CZW and NWA Wildside.
But eventually, the brothers became tag team stars, winning their first Ring of Honor Tag Team titles in 2003.
They would go on to win two Ring of Honor world championships and also held titles in New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Impact Wrestling.
Last year, the duo was inducted into the Ring of Honor Hall of Fame after winning back-to-back belts.
They were just beginning their 13th reign in the final battle of December by defeating FTR in a double dog collar match.
Together, the brothers were considered one of the greatest tag teams ever to perform for WWE.

Dax Harwood, one half of the FTR tag team with Cash Wheeler, shared a photo after a tag team fight his FTR team had against the Briscoe brothers. The two teams had a series of praised matches against each other last year.
Wrestling veteran Frankie Kazarian said: “I can’t even begin to process this right now, I loved everything about my friend Jay Briscoe.” His passion. The impulse of him. His presence. Our wars in the ring. Most importantly, how much she loved his family. I am literally sick to my stomach.
Wrestler Christopher Daniels called the late wrestler “one of the toughest men I’ve ever had the privilege of sharing a ring with, as well as being a tremendous brother, father, and man.”
He continued: ‘I’m very happy that I had the opportunity to meet him and wrestle with him as often as I did. Rest in peace, Jay, I love you.’

Briscoe’s colleague Dax Harwood shared a photo after a tag team match his FTR team had against the Briscoe brothers.
ECW legend Tommy Dreamer also said that he had known “Briscoe since I was a fan” and “saw him become an incredible wrestler, the greatest tag team and the most real promoter.”
She added: “I was going to text you yesterday about the cost of the eggs and I didn’t… I wish I had… Every time I saw them I would say Luv me some Briscoes,” adding: “Prayers for her family”. .’

Chelsea Green said she was ‘grateful’ to have met Briscoe, looking back on her experiences in ROH.
“One of the first faces to greet me and make me feel welcome on my first day of ROH was Jay Briscoe,” Green said. ‘My heart aches for his brother, his wife, his children and all who loved him. I’m glad I got to know you, Jay… even if it’s only briefly.
