Mercedes has offered Lewis Hamilton a sensational £62m-per-season deal, which would-be Man United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his company Ineos could pay for up to 90 per cent, according to reports in France.

Ratcliffe, Britain’s richest man, is a co-owner of Mercedes and a friend of Hamilton’s. In fact, Hamilton expressed his desire to own the club with Sir Jim in the future.
“Jim is part boss but part partner. I would say we’re more of a partner because we’re in this together, and I hope in the future to do something with Jim and build with him,” Hamilton told the Manchester Evening News.
‘I don’t know where that will be or what it will be, so I can’t really say. ‘I still haven’t gotten a call from him asking me if I want to be in on that (a United offer).
“But I want to get more and more involved with teams because I really believe in black ownership, there’s a lack of that in sports. And black equity, again, there’s a real lack of that.
