‘I have tears of gratitude running like rivers down my neck’: Jessie J reflects on her ‘out of body’ experience while performing in Rio at the time ‘nobody knew she was pregnant’

Jessie J was emotional on Wednesday as she recalled her performance in Rio, at a time when no one knew about her pregnancy.

The 34-year-old singer announced she is expecting her first child earlier this month, 13 months after suffering a devastating miscarriage.

Jessie said she had “tears of gratitude” when she saw footage of herself at 3am in the morning with her baby “kicking inside of me”.

Journey: Jessie J was emotional on Wednesday as she recalled her performance in Rio at a time when no one knew about her pregnancy.

In the video, the singer holds her stomach in her shimmering gold jumpsuit as she takes a deep breath to calm herself after worrying that she rushed her performance for the Rock in Rio festival.

Jessie wrote: ‘I’m pregnant here. My adrenaline rush and anxiety were at 1000. You can see me repeating to myself ‘You’re okay, you’re okay’ I felt like I was out of my body the whole time I was in Brazil, but especially right now.

“Nobody knew and I walked offstage feeling like I had run the show 100 times faster than I should have.” As I sang as Theodor of the squirrels sped up. I got out and just sobbed. Woooo emotions/hormones were HIGH.

I have tears of gratitude running like a river down my neck. Life. Grateful beyond anything I have ever felt.

The singer has been very open about her pregnancy and has spoken about the “overwhelming” anxieties she has faced so far, including morning sickness.

In a post, the hitmaker called out trolls who had left comments on a recent video she shared, in which she broke down in tears while suffering from illness.

Expressing her frustrations with her 12.3 million followers on Instagram, she wrote: “Commentaries on pregnancy videos are a whole new experience… It’s so interesting to watch how women are with each other.”

‘Let me just say this, pregnancy is the most relatable yet UNIQUE journey. We all feel it, experience it, and deal with it IN OUR own way.

“Telling someone how you feel or what to feel is not the way to do it.”

She continued: ‘I’m not even talking about some of you commenting on me, I’m talking about how you comment on each other.

All the world is different. Literally. And each story and trip is different.

‘Pregnancy is not a competition. Pregnancy isn’t who is doing it best or well because there isn’t one way that works for everyone.

“I can only fully speak about the first trimester and I think it’s either shitty, awesome, horrible, scary or joyous. Gratitude is always there as a given.

But we are allowed to feel. We are allowed to do it however WE want. We have this.’
