Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles has revealed that Russell Gage is due to be released from the hospital on Tuesday.

Gage underwent additional tests at the hospital Tuesday after he was carried out on a stretcher following a brutal blow that left him shaking on the ground and unable to stand.

Speaking to the media hours after an earlier statement from the Bucs, Bowles explained that Gage had a concussion but would check out of the hospital.

“He just has a concussion,” Bowles said. He should be released this afternoon. His neck is fine and now he himself has all his limbs in motion.

In a tweet posted early Tuesday, Gage thanked all the messages of support he had received.

Gage wrote: ‘I appreciate all the texts, calls, thoughts and prayers you all have expressed to me and my family.

‘I just wanted to let everyone know that I am doing great and in a great mood! Thanks!’

The incident took place late in the fourth quarter on a crossover route over the middle of the field.

Gauge stumbled when he tried to catch Tom Brady’s pass with Cowboys safety Donovan Wilson coming up to tackle him. It was then that Wilson collided with the back of Gage’s helmet, causing his neck to snap back in the opposite direction.

Gage tried to get up, but his body fell back onto the grass, prompting immediate concern among Bucs and Cowboys players.
