Could Oasis get back together after Noel’s split with his wife? Star says ‘never say never’

Noel Gallagher hasn’t ruled out meeting with Oasis just days after announcing he was splitting from his wife, who previously “wouldn’t let” him consider a reunion.

The High Flying Birds frontman and Oasis’ main songwriter left the band in 2009, citing a dispute with his younger brother and lead vocalist, Liam.

In 2020, Liam told a fan who asked about a reunion on Twitter: “I told you before she got ready for it but you know who won’t drop it because she doesn’t like oasis music.” [sic].’

Days after Noel and his wife of nearly 12 years, Sara MacDonald, announced their separation, he told BBC Radio Manchester that a reunion is not outside the realm of possibility.

“You should never say never,” he said, adding that “there would have to be an extraordinary set of circumstances.”

‘That is not to say that those circumstances would never arise.’

Noel was promoting the release of his new album, Council Skies, and said he remains in love with writing music.

“I’m just as fascinated by it today as I was 13 years ago when I went solo and 30 years ago next year when [debut Oasis album] Definitely. Maybe it came out,’ he said.

He also described the exhilaration of being on stage, describing it as a “blessing” that so many fans still wanted to hear his iconic songs from his Oasis days.

“You have to accept it and not get too precious about it and be grateful that you wrote songs that still have legs after 25-30 years and not worry about it.”

However, he hasn’t always been so complimentary about that period of his life.

Noel previously said that he had considered reuniting with his old band, but noted that he would “just do it” to “shut up”. [his] idiot brother.

“I’ve often thought, ‘Let’s do a concert,'” she told Vogue. But I realized that I was only doing it to shut this fucking idiot up. The only other thing I could think of was to burn down his house or vandalize his car… but that’s not going to solve anything, is it?’

The brothers have been feuding publicly on and off since he left the band, which took the brothers from council estate to global stardom.

And over the years, music publicist Sara, 51, found herself at the heart of the Oasis brothers’ toxic feud.

She told Vogue in 2020: ‘I want to make it clear that Oasis is not my story. It’s their story, Noel and Liam’s.

She revealed that she had hired a law firm to monitor any potentially defamatory claims Liam made about her or the children she shares with Noel.

Referring to an online dispute between Liam and his stepdaughter Anais, she said: “She had a relationship with Liam growing up… and for your uncle to refer to you publicly as ‘his fucking son’, I think to myself, how much more before I go for Sonny or Donovan?’

He also urged his children not to investigate the details of the siblings’ feud to prevent them from thinking it reflects a “normal relationship.”

Sara never addressed Liam’s claims that he didn’t like the music Oasis made during the height of their fame.

Noel and Sara issued a statement this week announcing their separation and noting that their two children “remain their priority.”

A spokesperson for Noel and Sara said: ‘Noel Gallagher and Sara Macdonald have confirmed that the couple are divorcing.

‘Noel and Sara will continue together taking care of their children, who continue to be their priority. Noel and Sara ask the media to respect their privacy and that of our family at this time.’

They had been living in a £8m South Downs mansion near the Hampshire town of Petersfield since 2019, with their two young children.

But now the Don’t Look Back In Anger hitmaker is said to be living apart from his wife in north London.
