A public swimming pool has been furious after telling customers what swimsuits they can wear at its facility.
The Marion outdoor pool in south Adelaide reposted its rules on social media last Friday, which said management had the right to remove guests who did not comply with the regulations.
Allowable swimwear was listed as ‘swimwear or a smart sun top that is not see-through’, ‘shorts or Speedos’, ‘one piece, tankini, swim skirt or modest bathing suit’ or a ‘ standard bikini’.

The ad, which originally ran in 2021, featured animated images of men, women and children wearing the accepted swimsuits.
“Management reserves the right to remove individuals from the pool if the appropriate swimwear above is not adhered to,” the post read.
‘Please have fun and be considerate of others.’
But social media users criticized the post, claiming that pool managers were going back to the 1920s over patrons’ need to cover up.
“Sounds like someone with religious affiliation/control issues has been given a position in charge and decided it’s 1920,” said one furious commenter.
Another wrote: ‘You’ll lose business telling people what to wear! Seriously, what is this world coming to too?’
“I know Marion is ‘down south’, but do you realize we are in Oz, not the US, have a Labor Party and not a Republican majority, and that women still have bodily autonomy?”

But some commenters responded to the rants by saying, “it’s just about being appropriate in a family setting.”
‘Assuming those few didn’t see this before visiting [the pool] today! The Brazilian bikini is definitely not on the list as appropriate,” said one swimmer.
Another wrote: ‘I guess too much butt showing? At least it seems to be the trend at the beach.
“When I’m swimming I find women in thong bikinis swimming and getting in and out of the pool pretty disgusting,” a third commented. “Too much information for my eyes.”
“So women may be warned if they dare to wear bikinis, but overweight ‘older’ men can wear budgie smugglers without fear.” said another.
The Marion Outdoor Pool was contacted by Daily Mail Australia for comment.
