Tom Brady refuses to rule out retirement, saying he’ll “go home and sleep well” when asked by reporters if he’s played his last game after the Bucs’ disastrous playoff loss.
Tom Brady had the most pass attempts of his career, but couldn’t find much success when it came to scoring when his Buccaneers fell in the NFC Wild Card round to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night, leaving his future in the air.
After the 31-14 loss to the Cowboys, Brady didn’t seem ready to reveal what’s next for him at the postgame press conference.
“I’m going to go home and sleep well,” Brady responded when asked about his future.
Or the best I can tonight. … This has been a big focus in this game, so it’s just going to be one day at a time, really.”
Tom Brady made no commitment to retire after his 2022 season came to an end Monday night.
Brady attempted 66 passes, completing 35 of them in a 31-14 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Brady ended his press conference with some positive parting words for the Buccaneers team and the media.
‘I love this organization. It’s a great place to be. Thank you all for welcoming me. I am very grateful for the respect and I look forward to returning it to you guys,” Brady said.
After losing in last year’s NFC divisional round to the eventual Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams, Brady announced he was retiring from the sport.
He then made the shocking decision to come out of retirement in early March 2022 and returned to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Brady had a chaotic season, both on and off the field, culminating in his first losing season.
Brady returned to the team, but was unable to replicate last season’s 13-4 mark that saw them earn the second seed in the 2021 NFL playoffs.
This season, behind a sloppy offensive line, the Buccaneers limped to an NFC South title with an 8-9 record, the first nine-loss season of Brady’s career.
It was a season of many trials and tribulations for Brady, both on the field, with rocky performances, and off the field as he was divorcing ex-wife Giselle Bundchen.
The Buccaneers fell to Dallas on Monday night with Brady attempting 66 passes but completing just 35 of them for 351 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He also was sacked twice for a loss of 17 total yards.
Multiple teams have said they would be interested in pursuing Brady this offseason, with the Las Vegas Raiders being the most recent team to throw their hat into the ring.
If Brady decides to continue playing football, there will be a lot of teams interested in him.
