Man United awarded equaliser by VAR as offside Marcus Rashford is deemed NOT to have interfered

Bruno Fernandes tied Manchester United with Manchester City in the 78th minute, and the VAR had to score the goal after a possible offside in the previous one.

The Portuguese star shot on goal but it was Marcus Rashford who appeared offside in the play, however the referees ruled that he had no part in the goal by not touching the ball.

Rashford then scored a quick second off Alejandro Garnacho’s cross, as the Red Devils quickly turned from a 2-1 header to take the lead.

With the England star missing the ball, Fernandes held on to the pass to score

A ball tackled behind the City defense by United’s Casemiro from the right sent several of the home attackers chasing after him, with Rashford clearly offside in pursuit.

The striker looked about to catch the pass but instead stayed with the ball, smartly making sure not to touch it to keep the game alive.

As a result of his intervention, both Manuel Akanji and Kyle Walker were drawn to the running England striker, allowing Bruno Fernandes to steal a drive and reach the end of the pass.

Manchester City players were outraged by the decision and quickly surrounded the referee

Rashford left the ball for his teammate, and Fernandes complied by emphatically converting past Brazil goalkeeper Ederson, who was running off his line to close out the 25-year-old.

Having played a hugely influential role in the build-up to the first, Rashford scored the second himself to score nine consecutive games at Old Trafford with one goal.

He showed great composure to convert inside the six-yard box a cross into Garnacho’s penalty area to make it 2-1, with United scoring a memorable derby victory from a losing position.
