Ian Wright criticized both Kalidou Koulibaly and Kepa Arrizabalaga after poor defensive performances against Fulham.

The former England striker also said the Chelsea goalkeeper “has to do better” to keep his place in the team after several uninspiring performances, calling Senegal defender Koulibaly “eager”.

‘How can someone be as fragile as (Kalidou) Koulibaly?’ Wright began. Koulibaly looks fucking nervous and very anxious. The goalkeeper (Kepa) has to stay on his line for the center or he has to go through everyone and get to the ball.

‘The way the ball came in is a good cross, it’s a tempting cross. But if the goalie is in the right position, he shouldn’t give you any trouble. You either stay on your line or you go and palm him away, he was in the air long enough.

I’m looking at Kepa and I’m sorry, but it’s not working. Man makes too many mistakes. He looks very nervous. When you look at the goals from Fulham and the one from Manchester City, I think Kepa has to do better.

We are facing a Chelsea team where, even if they are playing well, I cannot look at the goalkeeper and think that he will help them win a game. I can not see it.

The Spanish goalkeeper returned to the fold after numerous high-profile errors from Edouard Mendy, and with the Senegalese goalkeeper succumbing to a shoulder injury, Kepa had an extended run in the side.

As well as being at fault for Fulham’s goal, he also failed to reach a cross that passed in front of him against City in the Premier League in early January, for which he also drew criticism.

Chelsea’s defense has been especially porous of late, with the team conceding 21 league goals so far this season, just 12 fewer than their total from last campaign with 20 games still to play.

The Blues have conceded 17 goals in their last 10 outings in all competitions, conceding four in a single game twice in that period.
