In a sad coincidence, the death of Lisa Marie Presley was announced at the same time Channel Seven was airing one of her father’s films.
The Australian broadcaster screened Elvis Presley’s 1964 hit Kissin’ Cousins ββfrom noon to 2pm on Friday afternoon. Lisa Marie’s death at age 54 was confirmed by her family in a statement to People at around 12:40pm AEDT.
The American singer-songwriter, the only child of Elvis and actress Priscilla Presley, passed away recently hours after he went into cardiac arrest at the home where he lived in Calabasas, California.
Kissin’ Cousins, directed by Gene Nelson, is a musical comedy in which the King of Rock and Roll plays dual roles: a dark-haired Air Force officer and his look-alike, blonde-haired mountain cousin.

Earlier on Thursday, Presley was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and was said to be in a coma following “complete cardiac arrest” shortly after she complained of stomach pains, according to TMZ.
Her mother, Priscilla, said in a statement: “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us.
βShe was the most passionate, strong, loving woman I have ever met. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss. Thanks for the love and prayers. There will be no further comments at this time.
Presley’s death comes just two days after he was photographed with his mother at the Golden Globes in Beverly Hills, where Austin Butler won Best Actor for his portrayal of his father in Baz Luhrmann’s biopic Elvis.

Sources told TMZ that Presley was found unconscious in her bedroom by her housekeeper and that her ex-husband, Danny Keough, with whom she had been living, performed CPR until paramedics arrived at the home.
The source added that “someone administered epinephrine,” more commonly known as adrenaline, at the scene at least once to help Presley regain his pulse.
Stomach pain is a symptom of a heart attack in women.
Three days ago, Riley Keough posted a photo of her mom Lisa Marie to her Instagram story with the caption ‘How gorgeous is my mom?!’
In a statement on Facebook before her daughter’s death, Priscilla Presley said: “My beloved daughter Lisa Marie was rushed to the hospital.
‘She is now receiving the best care. Please keep her and our family in her prayers. We feel everyone’s prayers and ask for privacy at this time.”
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told Dailymail.com: “Deputies at the Lost Hills station responded to a request for assistance to Los Angeles County firefighters near the 9500 block of Normandy Drive in Calabasas, regarding an adult female, age approximately 55, for a medical emergency/non-breathing female.

“The adult female was transported by the Los Angeles County Fire Department to a local area hospital where they were released for hospital care.”
Meanwhile, images emerged of Lisa Marie’s mother, Priscilla, 77, rushing to the hospital an hour after her daughter’s medical emergency became known.
She was seen running quickly towards the hospital entrance where her only daughter was being treated.
Lisa Marie, a singer-songwriter, had three children, including actress Riley Keough.

Born on February 1, 1968, Lisa Marie was the sole heir to her father’s estate. Elvis died when he was only nine years old.
Most recently, the former Scientologist was an uncalled witness for the prosecution in the rape trial of That ’70s Show star Danny Masterson.
Presley’s ex-husband, Michael Lockwood, played guitar in Bijou Phillips’ band. Phillips and Masterson have been married since 2011.
