A mother and daughter killed in a devastating triple fatal car accident have been bid farewell by their tight-knit community amid emotional scenes, with the tragic mother’s favorite pair of skates placed atop her coffin.

Susan Zimmer, 70, and her daughter Steffanie, 35, died after their silver Mercedes was totaled in Bonogin, in the Queensland Gold Coast hinterland, on December 30.

Susan’s husband, 79-year-old retired skin cancer specialist Chris Fawcett, also died in the accident.

Uiatu ‘Joan’ Taufua, the mother of Brisbane Broncos footballer Payne Haas, was reportedly fleeing from police when her car collided with the Zimmer clan vehicle on Friday 30 December. She has been charged with three counts of manslaughter.

Her daughter Claudine Snow arrived on duty at Mudgeeraba Showgrounds on Friday wearing her mother’s signature skates, in tribute to the sport she loved.

The couple’s white coffins were festooned with flowers in front of Bill Deacon’s pavilion, with the skids placed atop Mrs Zimmer’s coffin.

Steffanie’s was festooned with a photo of her running in a race, along with a can of her beloved Milo and a quart of chocolate milk.

Several police officers who came to the scene of the accident were joined by family and friends.

Coldplay’s ‘The Scientist’ and Power Culture’s ‘Convenience’ played at the start of the service, with Mrs Snow lighting candles for her mother and sister.

Ms Snow said she was honored that the community had joined her in saying goodbye to her mother and sister.

He said that growing up with Susan and Steffanie was like ‘the three amigos’.

“Susan endures many obstacles, but she possessed immense talent and even fiercer determination,” said Ms. Snow.

He paid tribute to his mother’s love of roller skating and revealed that he did the splits in front of his friends as a way of ‘showing off’.

At night, she was studying to become an accountant so that Ms. Snow could attend college.

“She was a driven and resourceful woman,” he said. ‘She gave me so many lifelong lessons.

‘If you’re listening mom, I don’t know what to do without you. You were my best friend and I find myself picking up the phone to call you and ask your advice… for anything; just for one more hug,” Snow said.

Fond memories were recounted of their mother taking her daughters to McDonalds, along with Susan baking in the kitchen and doting on her grandchildren.

A procession will head to Mudgeeraba Cemetery after the service, where Susan and Stephanie were laid to rest.

Ms Snow previously spoke of her disbelief at the horrifying tragedy when she visited a roadside memorial at the scene of the accident earlier this month.

“The last thing (mom) said to me in a voicemail was that she was worried about driving this time of year,” she revealed.

“I wish I had listened to her gut and not come out.”

“I just fell to my knees,” he recalled. She knew that she was about mom. (The person on the phone) said, ‘They’re all gone.’

‘My mother, my stepfather, my only brother have been taken from me.

‘This shouldn’t have happened.

“I want people to know that when you get behind the wheel, you hold other people’s lives in your hands.

It has destroyed my life. I don’t know if I can ever be happy again.
