Everything changes: Florence Pugh has opened up about her breakup with Zach Braff, 47, in a rare candid interview with US Vogue
Explaining during the Vogue chat that the breakup was “very new,” Florence said that she and Zach, who lived together in Los Angeles, tried to keep their romance private.
We weren’t in anyone’s face. It was just that people didn’t like it. They envisioned me with someone younger and someone in the blockbusters.
“I think young relationships in Hollywood go awry so easily because they get on gossip sites. It’s exciting to watch. And I think I was in a relationship that did none of that.
It’s over: Florence, 27, announced in an August 2022 interview that she and Zach, 47, had split earlier in the year after three years together
The two have remained close friends and collaborators, with Florence starring in Zach’s next project, A Good Person, due out in March.
Director Zach is asked in the interview for his notes on his ex as an actress, with his adoration for her clear.
“I just think she’s one of the best actresses of her generation,” he gushes. She is just magnetic. You can’t take your eyes off of her.
“And it’s not just her beauty and it’s not just her acting ability, it’s that thing, that magical thing that transcends the screen, where everyone goes: I want to see what this person does.”
Made headlines: The Don’t Worry Darling star is the cover star of US Vogue’s February issue, starring in a stunning pictorial centering on her twin passions for cooking and fashion.
A Good Person sees Florence star as Allison, who is about to get married when a horrific accident kills two of her fiancé’s family members.
The film follows his descent into opiate addiction and an unlikely relationship with his would-be father-in-law, played by Morgan Freeman.
Her character’s unconventional way of dealing with life and death is something Florence says she can relate to, telling Vogue about her desire not to settle.
Stripping it all down: “I’ve never been afraid of what’s under the fabric,” she explains of the much-talked-about pink tulle Valentino dress she wore during Milan Fashion Week.
An example she gives is the freedom she and her siblings were allowed in their childhood growing up in Spain and the Oxfordshire countryside into adulthood and her approach to fashion.
‘I’ve never been afraid of what’s under the canvas. If I’m happy in it, then I’ll wear it,’ she explains of her daring red carpet choices, including the much-talked-about pink tulle Valentino gown she wore during Milan Fashion Week.
‘Of course, I don’t want to offend people, but I think my point is: How can my nipples offend you so much?’ she says.
It is very important that we do this. I know some people might make fun of me saying that, but if a dress with my boobs peeking out encourages people to say, ‘Well, if you were raped, you’d deserve it,’ it shows me that there’s so much more work to do.
