It can be especially triggering if your body is going through big changes, such as pregnancy or postnatal recovery.
“So this is a reminder not to let companies make you feel insecure so they can profit from you, and to remember that it’s okay to love and respect our bodies exactly as they are today for all they do for us.”
‘It’s funny because I still feel like my body is postnatal, but now that she’s pregnant again, I’m getting compliments again. “Wow! You’re glowing!” It’s funny, because no one told me that after the delivery.
Love is in the air: The mother-of-one sat on a walkway platform watching the sharks and rays swimming below.
“The only time I got compliments on my body after Alf was when I had c*vid and lost weight due to illness and stress.
‘But I felt like my body really deserved praise and adoration at the time, for going through labor (what a miracle!), for coming back all the way while keeping a tiny, sleep-deprived person alive.
“It bothers me that the focus around postnatal recovery is still weight-shaming: shaming mothers for not ‘recovering’, shaming mothers who ‘recover’.

“But recovery is so much more than that: it’s about overcoming hemorrhoids, prolapse, incontinence, tears, major surgery and coping with breast enlargement, it’s about the psychological changes of not feeling that you have your own body and the mental shock of feeling like you might be broken.
“So while society has a long way to go, there are many things we can do whenever negative thoughts arise. Remember that our bodies need time to heal. And that takes time.
‘It can take a year just for your bones to move back. that our bodies need nutrition, not restrictions. That our bodies did something miraculous.

‘It’s not the ‘baby weight’, it’s the eyelashes, the toes, the perfect little bodies, the placenta and the milk.
‘My postnatal recovery will be very different this time, as I will be choosing a C-section over a vaginal delivery, but I know I have to be kind and patient with myself.
And to give my body time to heal. And not let any company make me feel like shit so they can take advantage of me.❤️’
