Judge issues prison warning to ex-wife of TV meteorologist who’s showing drastic weight since giving up alcohol
The ex-wife of TV weatherman Steve Jacobs has been given a stern warning about what she must be prepared to do if she wants to avoid prison for driving her white Audi Q3 three times with a disqualified license.
Rosie Jacobs appeared at her sentencing hearing at Downing Center Local Court on Thursday, heavily made up and wearing an electric green silk linen suit with sky-high beige stiletto sandals.
The 43-year-old, who recently celebrated a year of sobriety, appeared before Judge Greg Grogan, who told her she “needs to be flexible in order to complete community service as an alternative to a full-time custodial sentence.”
Jacobs’ twelve months without alcohol, after a well-documented battle with alcohol, comes four years after her divorce from Steve Jacobs, the father of her two children. They separated in 2017.
Two of the three driving offenses behind the wheel of his white SUV occurred within four days of each other.
In court on Thursday, Ms Jacobs’ lawyer, Sheeza Naz, finally asked Grogan for a one-week postponement of sentence so that her client could complete the “final modules” of a traffic offender programme, after to tell your honor that Jacobs could perform a community service.

After Jacob’s latest string of traffic offenses was exclusively revealed by Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday, the travel journalist blamed recent breast reconstruction surgery and post-traumatic stress disorder for his “stupid decisions”.
‘Start of a new year, start of some new resolutions. And again, my health has to come first,” she wrote on Instagram, along with a photo of her hugging her dachshund her George hers.
“I’m proud to say that I gave up alcohol in 2021 and continue to love every day, even the hardest ones, because life can still bring some curveballs!
‘What most of you won’t know is that in the middle of last year I had several surgeries on my left breast, and it was finally removed and reconstructed.
“It was traumatic, physically and emotionally, and there were long periods of time not knowing what the outcome would be.”
Rosie said the surgery and the breakdown of her marriage had left her with “great anxiety” and that she had been diagnosed with PTSD.

Jacobs, 43, has shown considerable weight loss since quitting after a well-documented battle with alcohol, but suffered a setback after driving three times in four months with a disqualified license.
She said she had “made some stupid decisions to drive my car to the hospital after surgery while on a suspended license.” I regret that decision. I was in a lot of pain.’

Court documents reveal that Jacobs said “no comment” when asked by officers why she was driving while disqualified on two occasions.
On the third occasion, he told police he wasn’t feeling well and was “going through a lot right now” when he pulled up in Sydney driving his white SUV with a suspended licence.

The ex-wife of former Today meteorologist Steve Jacobs has pleaded guilty to driving with a suspended license three times in three months, including twice in four days.
The single mother of two license had previously been denied in August 2021, but she was allowed to drive under “good behavior conditions”, which were granted until August last year.
“From the moment of requesting and obtaining the conditions of good conduct, [Jacobs] he incurred five traffic violations, later annulling his conditions of good conduct,’ the court documents state.
His license was then suspended from May 13, 2022 to March 12, 2023 due to an accumulation of demerit points for multiple offenses.
Jacobs told police who questioned her in Darlinghurst that she was unaware her driving privileges had been withdrawn.
‘[Jacobs] reported that he has not moved residence recently, although he has not recently checked his mailbox to see if he received a notice of suspension,” the court documents state.

On November 25, Jacobs was driving the Audi again on Campbell Parade in Bondi Beach, near his home, when an automated license plate check alerted police to the status of his license.
A highway patrol officer stopped her on Queen Elizabeth Drive and produced a digital copy of her suspended permit.
‘The police warned [Jacobs] and stated that [Jacobs] she had been detained by other police officers on August 25, to which she nodded her head, according to court documents. “The defendant only said: ‘I would prefer not to comment.'”
Jacobs was then issued a second court attendance notice for driving while suspended.
“In serving the notice on the defendant, she said, ‘I’m going through a lot right now,’ and ‘I’m not okay,'” court documents state.

“The defendant appeared to be going through a period of illness and family trauma and was distraught upon being arrested for the offence.”
Four days later, at around 10pm on November 29, Jacobs was arrested in Avoca Street, Randwick and charged with a third count of driving with a suspended license.
After police activated lights and sirens and pulled her over, asking her why she was driving with a disqualified license, she replied ‘no comment’.
She pleaded guilty to all three counts and will now be sentenced on January 20.
