A tour is planned for the summer, although they are discussing whether it will have to be delayed until Christmas due to Jo’s back injury which has led to her undergoing four operations to remove part of a herniated disc.

The singer injured her back during the band’s heyday in 2002, when surgeons wanted to operate on her at the time, but Jo turned it down while on tour.

Last year, however, the excruciating injury flared up, forcing Jo to undergo four surgeries to remove part of a slipped disc in her back.

Jo was jumping on a trampoline during a health break in September and believes the sudden movement caused her back to go into spasm, with four bulging discs rubbing against her sciatic nerve.

Doctors operated at the time, but had to perform multiple surgeries, most recently in November after Jo woke up in the night screaming and shaking in pain.

Two months later, Jo has given a health update revealing that she needs regular physiotherapy and has permanent damage to her right leg.

“Back surgery is very complex and every time they go in, they only weaken my back. He was absolutely petrified.

‘The surgeons said there was a high chance of permanent damage to my legs and that I would never dance again. She was thinking, ‘Well, that’s it, then,’ because standing on stage and singing Reach is kind of impossible if you can’t move.

Jo said she found it heartbreaking to be told by doctors there was a risk of permanent damage to her mobility, but had to have the operation because “the alternative was even worse.”
