Grim moment Sunrise host Monique Wright jokes that Prince Harry’s book may have ALREADY been discounted on its first day on sale: “You can see the red tag on it!”

Prince Harry’s controversial memoir Spare has become the best-selling non-fiction book in the UK.

But that didn’t stop Australian Sunrise presenter Monique Wright from making a shady comment about the book’s sales.

On Wednesday, the fill-in presenter asked if Spare had been trashed for deals on its first day of release.

He made the comment during a live crossing to Dymocks bookstore, where he noticed the book had red stickers on it.

‘I think it’s actually on sale, you can see the little red tag on it!’ she exclaimed.

‘It’s already been lowered!’ she added with a smile.

Her co-host, Matt Doran, chimed in to correct her by explaining how well Spare is really doing.

“It’s not because it hasn’t been a success,” he said.

“It’s already the best-selling nonfiction book of all time,” she continued, and a stunned Monique replied, “Wow, that’s amazing.”

The red stickers were used as a marketing ploy to make it appear as if the book had been marked down to $45, instead of selling it at the “regular retail price” of $59.99.

Actually, Spare is available at different prices depending on where it is purchased.

Booktopia and Kmart have Spare for as low as $35, while Angus & Robertson is charging a whopping $85 for a CD version of the tell-all tome.

According to Meghan Markle’s good friend and spokesman Omid Scobie, Spare has already sold a whopping 400,000 copies in the UK alone.
