A single mother who called triple-0 to falsely claim her ex-partner was threatening her and her children with a gun had been out drinking and playing Fortnite all night, a court heard.
Jaimee-Lee Watson, 33, was facing up to a year behind bars when she pleaded guilty to making false claims at Manjimup Magistrates Court in south-west Western Australia last week.
The court heard that she made the desperate call in the early hours of October 1, alleging that her ex-partner was threatening her and their five children and would not let her leave their home in Greenbushes.
Two police officers were already on their way to the house when Watson called again 20 minutes later to assure the operator that her safety was no longer in danger and that she did not need help.

The operator told him that the police were already on their way to the house and would be there in minutes.
When police arrived at the home, they quickly established that Watson and her children were in no danger.
The court heard that Watson wanted to drive away, but her ex-partner stopped her because she was too intoxicated to get behind the wheel. Manjimup-Bridgetown Times informed.
The court heard that Watson told police that he made the false claim to the call operator to speed up their response time.
Watson’s lawyer, Fiona Walsh, said her client’s “out of character” behavior was due to his being under the influence of alcohol and that Watson tried to rectify the mistake by making the second call.
At the time, two officers had been called back to duty and were on their way to work, the publication reported.

The court heard that Watson had suffered substance abuse in the past due to finding his deceased father.
The police prosecutor told the court that the punishment had to reflect the seriousness of Watson’s actions. “I doubt there is another person in this courtroom with a belly full of alcohol who would do what you did,” Justice Linda Keane told Watson.
“(The charge) could lead to a prison sentence.”
Watson was ordered to do 40 hours of community service and pay $671.81 to cover the overtime costs of the police officers involved, in addition to court costs.
