Ella Henderson has announced the happy news that she is engaged.

The 26-year-old singer took to her Instagram on Tuesday to tell followers that her partner Jack Burnell had taken one knee during a trip to Mauritius.

Former X Factor star Ella showed off her amazing ring on Instagram and looked adorable in snaps with GB swimming hunk Jack, 28.

She wrote in the caption: ‘So this happened…here’s life with you and all your adventures @jackrexburnell!

She, who met Jack on a dating app during lockdown, seemed emotional in the pictures as she held her hand out to the camera in the idyllic spot.

Another snap showed Jack jumping for joy on the beach with the words ‘she said yes!’ written in the sand in front of him.

She looked radiant in the snaps as she rocked a matching hotel robe with Jack and dressed her blonde locks in loose waves.

Another image from her Christmas album showed them enjoying a romantic walk on the beach holding hands, where Ella wore a black bikini and a white patterned dress.

In his post, Jack shared the same snaps and wrote in his caption: ‘He SAYS YES! I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you… ❤️ @official_ellahenderson.’

Friends were quick to comment on their congratulations below the post, with chef Gordon Ramsay writing: “Congratulations to both of you!”

Joel Corry wrote: “Congrats to both of you!!!” while Jake Quickenden said: “Congrats mate!”.

Ella and Jack first met during the Covid lockdown after they hooked up on a dating app, after Ella had been through a difficult breakup, and when she had just finished writing her second album.

she has previously said Subway on how they met: ‘It’s funny, we always say we never would have met and crossed paths probably if it wasn’t for the lockdown.

“Finishing the album at that point was an incredible healing process for me, as I had split up with my previous partner and just wanted some time to myself.

“I thought this is my time, I’m going to get caught up in the music again and in my mind, I thought that’s it, no more guys, I don’t need a distraction, my heart needs to heal.”

“Coming together at that point was really cool because everything on the record was about owning up to mistakes, things falling apart and me working myself.”

She previously recounted how she wrote a song about him on her second album, called Northern Lights.

Last summer, Jack penned a sweet two-year anniversary post for Ella, writing: ‘Two years with this amazing woman.

‘You are amazing not only for putting up with me but in everything you do. I can’t wait to make many more special memories with you!’

The couple looked smitten as they posed together on a beach and smiled for the cameras.

The Ghost hitmaker has kept her relationship history fairly private, but during her time on X Factor she dated Union J band member George Shelley.

The couple was seen walking down a London street hand-in-hand before traveling to Disneyland Paris together for a weekend in 2012.

Sportsman Jack, a native of Scunthorpe, won silver over 10km at the European Open Water Championships in 2016, a year after securing his place at the 2016 Rio Olympics with a fifth-place finish at the 2015 World Championships in Kazan, Russia.

He won his first World Cup title in Mexico in 2015, before adding a second that year in Hungary.

At the Olympics themselves, Jack was well on his way to claiming a medal before being disqualified for two yellow cards.

In 2017, he came agonizingly close to a World Championship medal with a fourth-place finish in Budapest, before winning World Cup gold in Abu Dhabi.
