Chelsea ‘weigh up a move for PSV Eindhoven and England Under-21 winger Noni Madueke’  

Chelsea “are considering signing PSV Eindhoven’s English under-21 winger Noni Madueke” as manager Graham Potter tries to turn the season around.

The Blues have won just two of their last nine games and were humiliated 4-0 by Manchester City in the FA Cup third round on Sunday, increasing the pressure on Potter.

But the former Brighton manager will have time to salvage Chelsea’s season and is being backed in the January transfer window.

They have reached a verbal agreement with Atlético Madrid for the loan of 9 million pounds sterling of the Portuguese star Joao Félix, beating Manchester United and Arsenal in their signature.

The Stamford Bridge club have also secured the signings of Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile for £35m, Molde striker David Datro Fofana for £8m and Vasco da Gama midfielder Andrey Santos for £18m. sterling.

Now according to The timesthey are considering moving to 20-year-old Madueke.

Born in Barnet, north London, Madueke spent time at the Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur academies before moving to Dutch club PSV in June 2018.

Madueke, 20, has been at PSV Eindhoven since 2018 and has four England Under-21 caps

The winger scores one of his two goals in PSV’s last friendly against AC Milan

Since then, he has made 78 first-team appearances, scoring 19 goals and this has earned him international recognition with four appearances for the England Under-21 team.

Madueke has a contract with PSV until 2025, which means they could command a much higher price than their market estimate of around £13m.

He also reportedly drew interest from AC Milan after scoring twice against them in a mid-season friendly last month.

It comes as Chelsea have reportedly stepped up talks to sign French striker Marcus Thuram, 25, from Borussia Monchengladbach.

Potter is hoping an infusion of young talent into his team will improve his fortunes and ease the pressure on his shoulders, with a section of Chelsea fans chanting the name of his predecessor Thomas Tuchel at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

The Blues return to Premier League action when they play at Fulham on Thursday night.
