Bill Shorten has called the royal family ‘dysfunctional’ and ‘at odds’ and has questioned why Australia has not become a republic.

The Minister for Government Services did his bit to the Royals following Prince Harry’s explosive interviews with ITV, Good Morning America and 60 Minutes, where he opened fire on William, Kate and his father’s wife, Camilla.

“It’s a shame to see a family go bankrupt, but perhaps at the deepest level, why do we have to keep borrowing from a dysfunctional British family to be Australia’s Head of State?” he told the Today Show on Tuesday morning.

During Harry’s interview with GMA, he said he didn’t think it was “possible” to return to the UK.
