The photo shows a fringe of what appear to be winged termites due to their light gold segmented bodies and large opaque wings.

Winged termites swarm on hot nights after heavy rains in search of a new nest, dropping their wings once a potential nest has been found.

They are a sign that the home is currently infested or at high risk of being infested since flying termites do not travel great distances to find a new nest.

Numerous reddit users quickly jumped on the post to warn the resident of the imminent danger to their home.

‘first move to a different house,’ wrote one commenter.

‘Pest controller here. You likely have a termite nest in/around your structure and certainly one within your property. That number indicates a nest very close,” another commenter wrote.

‘You may want to call a pesticide company. There is a termite nest nearby,” another commenter wrote.

The resident responded by saying ‘already done. Even the suspicion is worrisome.’

Another commented on the photo itself, saying ‘That’s really beautiful, you should make it into a greeting card!’

The resident responded to the barrage of comments mocking the situation.

“Believe it or not, there’s a beautiful welcome mat under all of that,” they wrote.
