She ended up carrying two large shopping bags filled to the brim with games and toys.
With Holmes’s daughter Sabine about to turn ten today, it was apparent the embattled newscaster was shopping for birthday presents for his only child with ex-wife Marilee Fiebig.
Holms has two children from his first marriage to Amy Ferson.
It will be the first family celebration since Holmes’s clandestine affair with his married co-star destroyed the couple’s marriage.
Holmes and Fiebig had been married for 12 years, as had Robach and her husband, former Melrose Place actor Andrew Shue.
Speaking through her divorce lawyer, and exclusively to DailyMail.com on Wednesday, Fiebig finally broke her silence on the matter, criticizing her estranged husband’s “lack of discretion, respect and sensitivity” when their marriage publicly collapsed.
“Throughout the holiday season and in light of difficult times, Marilee’s sole focus has remained on the overall best interest of her 9-year-old daughter,” said attorney Stephanie Lehman.
Holmes continued browsing after picking up a cute bowling set at the huge toy store on Thursday.
Rockefeller Center-based FAO Schwarz is known for its high-end toys and games.

“To that end, TJ’s attorney and I have been working together to move her divorce privately, quickly and amicably,” said Lehman, director of New York/New Jersey family law practice Phillips Nizer.
“However, we remain disappointed in TJ’s lack of discretion, respect and sensitivity towards Marilee and the daughter of the party.
“Marilee has been touched by the outpouring of support and is looking forward to a fresh start in this new year.”
Marilee, 45, a lawyer, is the Director of Diversity for the Save the Children Foundation.
Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, she was previously vice president of operations and general counsel for the Wilhelmina modeling agency and chief of staff for entertainment company Rock Nation.
She and TJ met in 2009 and were married in Memphis in March 2010. Their daughter Sabine was born in January 2013.
Holmes has had extra time on his hands while he remains suspended from the air since ABC released an internal review of his romance with co-star Amy Robach in early December.
He was seen leaving the toy store with two large shopping bags full of toys and games.
