Mabil, who has made just two World Cup appearances totaling 22 minutes, will join his former FC Midtjylland manager Brian Prisk at Sparta and hopes to return to his best form there.

“With him I played my best football before,” the 27-year-old told the Sparta website.

I know you know me very well and I know you very well.

“He is a very ambitious guy, so we agree on the same ambitions.

“His way of looking at football is amazing and I was able to experience that in Denmark.” So I would really like to experience it here again.’

“He is a team player with a winning mentality. The advantage is that the coach knows him well from having worked together in Midtjylland.’
