Sydney’s mother Vanessa Tadros, 36, and her son Nicholas, 10, took their last photo together moments before boarding a helicopter flight at Gold Coast Sea World on Monday afternoon.

Its flight spent 20 seconds in the air before crashing into another Sea World helicopter, shearing rotor blades in the other aircraft’s cockpit and ripping out its own rotor and gearbox unit.

Ms Tadros, pilot Ash Jenkinson and British couple Ron and Dianne Hughes were tragically killed in the crash.

Nicholas was seriously injured with his father, Simon Tadros, and it was revealed on Wednesday that the boy is in critical condition and still doesn’t know his mother is dead.

He’s not fine, he’s on a life support machine. I’m not in a good headspace at all,” he said daily telegraph.

One of Nicholas’s cousins said that several family members had gone to Sea World with Ms. Tardos and her son, but did not catch the flight due to long wait times.

“The saddest part of all is that the family had to witness everything, there are a lot of them together,” they said.

“We are more on the Gold Coast and we also have relatives abroad who must be kept informed. It’s a tragedy.

Ms Tadros’s bereaved family has begun closing down their popular Sydney-based event planning business, Vee Vee Creations.

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have to inform everyone of the passing of my beautiful wife and mother of my son Vanessa,” Mr. Tadros wrote on the company’s Facebook page.

RESEARCH THEORY OF THE OFFICE OF AIR TRANSPORTATION SAFETY

An unusual quirk of the two luxury helicopters involved in the Sea World helicopter crash may have played a key role in causing the tragedy that killed four people.

Sea World Helicopters had only taken delivery of its top-of-the-line, $2.5 million Eurobus EC130 helicopters in November to complement its two older Squirrel 350s.

But the two new planes were configured with the pilot sitting in the left seat, which is unconventional for helicopters, with two passengers to his right.

Investigators are now looking into whether the pilot’s view was blocked by onlookers which may have caused the crash.

The pilots’ hearing will be part of the investigation into the cause of the crash, Office of Air Transport Safety chief commissioner Angus Mitchell revealed on Tuesday.

“We have a reasonable understanding of what the two helicopters were doing in those critical phases of the flight,” he said.

“But exactly why this occurred, what the visibility range was for both pilots, what was happening in the cockpits at the time — those are the things that will help us piece together what might have been a contributing factor here.”

Sea World Helicopters had just commissioned the crashed EC130s in time for the Christmas holiday peak season after testing one earlier in the year.

Images of the wreckage confirm flight controls on the left side of the aircraft, with passengers on the right potentially blocking the view of the helicopter’s imminent danger.
