We know the OnePlus 11 will be making a grand unveiling in China on January 4, with a global launch event scheduled for February 7. Meanwhile, however, we have heard almost everything over the phone from official and unofficial sources.
Starting with the official news, the OnePlus Weibo feed (opens in new tab) (through Notebook check (opens in new tab)) continues to push out nuggets of information: It’s teasing a “Bionic Motor” system for advanced haptics and a “Picture Quality Engine” to boost phone screen frame rates.
We also have confirmation of 100W super fast charging from OnePlus itself, and a mention of a 5,000mAh battery. OnePlus has also shown off a dual-port charger with both USB Type-A and Type-C ports, which may indicate the lack of a charger in the box.
Specifications and design
As for the unofficial rumors and leaks, it’s hard to keep track of everything at this stage. A legal application in China (via android police (opens in new tab)) has mentioned that the phone has a 6.7-inch, 120 Hz AMOLED display with a resolution of 3126 x 1440 pixels and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor that powers everything.
There will be 12 GB or 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB of internal storage. As for the rear camera, we expect a triple lens setup of 50MP + 48MP + 32MP with 2x optical zoom. The front camera is listed as a 16MP single-lens module.
Meanwhile at 91 mobiles (opens in new tab) we’ve got our hands on some real-world shots of the OnePlus 11, while tipster Abhishek Yadav also shared (opens in new tab) multiple renders of the device on Twitter – these go along with the actual promo photos that OnePlus itself has released.
Analysis: A strong start to 2023
The OnePlus 11 will be the first flagship phone to be unveiled this year, and the signs look promising: it comes with just about everything you’d want in a high-end handset for 2023, from the cameras to the internal processor.
We’ve got Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor under the hood, which is expected to power many premium Android handsets over the course of the year – it’ll be the fastest chipset option for Android manufacturers for quite some time.
There’s generous chunks of RAM and internal storage here, and – at least from the spec list – the rear camera module sounds promising (and Hasselblad is once again involved). The screen also sounds appropriately high-end.
Of course, we can’t really judge a smartphone until we’ve actually tested it, but from what we know so far, it looks like the OnePlus 11 is going to combine all the right ingredients. It has a high chance of becoming one of the best phones we see in 2023.
