House of Fraser has left central London after quietly closing its shop in Westfield Shopping Center in Shepherd’s Bush.
The withdrawal follows the abandonment of Oxford Street in January and the closing of the town’s store three years earlier.
It means that Croydon is now the closest branch to central London.

Other department store owners have also stopped operating in the capital.
Debenhams collapsed two years ago while Fenwick said last month it will close its New Bond Street store in 2024.
A retail manager said: ‘It’s a sad day that London can no longer support shops like this.’
House of Fraser has closed a number of stores in recent months, including those in Leeds, Norwich and Huddersfield. The High Wycombe branch is also slated to close.
The chain is left with around 30 stores in the UK – about half the number it had before going out of business in 2018.
The company was rescued by former Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley and is now part of his Frasers Group.
