The Peep Show star and actress married into the royal family in 2009 and has supported the Firm ever since.
The blow to Harry and Meghan comes after they blamed other senior members of the royal family for their departure for the United States, including the Prince of Wales.
Harry & Meghan, directed by Liz Garbus, is the first project to emerge from the multi-year deal the couple signed with the streaming giant in 2022, shortly after they announced they would step down as active members of the royal family.
Prince Harry accused his brother, the Prince of Wales (left, pictured with children Princess Charlotte and Prince George, and his wife Kate Middleton), of reporting against him and “yelling” at him in his Netflix series.
In the series, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex claimed that royal courtiers ‘blocked’ Harry from seeing his grandmother, the Queen, after they decided to step back as royals.
Harry also said it was “heartbreaking” to see his brother’s communications office “copying” his father’s behavior in “trading” stories with the press.
Harry said his brother authorized those in attendance to report against him and claimed his father Charles lied to his face at the same meeting. The Queen allegedly did not intervene because her ‘ultimate mission’ was to protect ‘the institution’.
There were suggestions that the aging monarch was being manipulated by family members and courtiers for their own ends, thwarting his attempts to meet with her to discuss his and Meghan’s plans to step down as royals.
He also alleged that his brother, Prince William, “scared” him into a row over his decision to leave, saying he yelled and yelled at him. The couple also said that the royal family refused to meet with Harry and Meghan because relations between the couple and the institution had broken down.
The series also accused Buckingham Palace attendees of using Meghan as a “scapegoat” to divert the media from damaging stories about other royals.
So far, the Firm has chosen not to comment on any of the claims made in the six-part series.
The senior royals have shown a united front in the days since, gathering just hours after the launch of Kate’s Together At Christmas concert at Westminster Abbey last week.
King Charles has continued his calendar of royal events, putting on a brave face when he visited a London Jewish community center just hours after the second part of the series aired.
As well as calling Harry and Meghan, Lady Sophie paid a moving tribute to the late Queen as she discussed her troubled relationship with the church.
She described her parents’ past entangled with religion, saying she “hasn’t had a direct path to God” but added that Her Majesty’s “unwavering faith” in God inspired her to continue to seek Him.
Lady Sophie was ‘intrigued’ by such an engagement, leaving her ‘compelled’ to continue exploring her faith: ‘The late Queen’s unwavering faith fascinated and moved me. How do you put rational thought and science aside and believe in something so allegorical and, well, crazy?
