A mother’s festive prank backfired when Posey, her family dog ’Scrooge’, ate her beloved Elf on the Shelf, leaving her children in tears.
Jessika See, 32, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, put on a mischievous winter scene by placing her son Rafe’s elf, nine-year-old Rudy, on a flour-filled kitchen counter so that it looked like the doll was making snow angels. .
However, she was confused when she came home from the school run to find that the elf had disappeared and there was nothing but a white dust mark on the ground in its wake.
Jessika See, 32, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, revealed that her family dog Posey ate her nine-year-old son Rafe’s Elf on the Shelf, Rudy.
Jessika searched the house with Rafe and their six-year-old daughter Cam, but Rudy the elf was nowhere to be found. The mom quickly came to the conclusion that Posey had eaten the toy.
“We had just gotten home and walked into this scene of flour everywhere and the dog licking its lips,” he told the Kennedy News. “As soon as I saw the flour on the ground, I turned and looked [Posey]and he looked so guilty.
‘At first my reaction was: ‘Where’s the goblin?’ I thought maybe my husband had come home and moved it. My gut knew it right away, but it was confirmed after I searched the house from top to bottom in the next few minutes.
‘I looked on the ground and there was flour. I thought: “No way.” It was like Rudy had hit the ground,” she recalled.
Mom had placed Rudy on the floured kitchen counter, so it looked like the elf was making snow angels, but when he got home, the toy was gone.
Jessika searched the house with Rafe and their six-year-old daughter Cam, but soon realized that Posey had swallowed Rudy the elf whole.
The mother said she was “in disbelief” that Posey had managed to pull the elf off the counter and swallow him whole.
I think he ate it because it had flour in it. I guess he found it tasty,” she said. ‘The children began to cry and scream. They were annoying, [but] they were not angry. They love his dog.
Jessika shared a video of the carnage and mayhem on TikTok, where it has been viewed more than 5.4 million times.
The footage began with a close-up of the flour before the camera panned to the furry culprit standing at the far end of the kitchen.

Thousands of people commented on the video, and many worried that Posey might have a block swallowing the toy whole.
“She was able to pass the leprechaun just fine,” Jessika said of the dog, who also ate socks and an entire loaf of bread with the packaging.
Thanks to the children’s grandmother, the children had a replacement elf the next day and were ‘totally fine’
we were a bit worried [about Posey]. So we checked with a vet and they gave us things to look for,” Jessika told the Kennedy News. ‘She was able to pass the elf very well.’
Jessika noted that this wasn’t the first time Posey has put her paws on something she shouldn’t have. The dog has also eaten a whole loaf of bread with the wrapper and a pair of socks.
“Our dog has been a bit of a Scrooge,” he admitted, but the goblin magic is still alive and well in his home.
Thanks to the children’s grandmother, the children soon had a replacement.
“I explained to the kids that the elf is magical and you never know, we’ll just have to wait and see,” Jessika said. “Then a day later the elf came back and they were totally fine.”
