When is Black Panther: Wakanda Forever coming to Disney Plus?
>
When will Black Panther: Wakanda Forever be released on Disney Plus? Unfortunately, we still don’t have an answer. However, it is possible that it will arrive inside Disney’s streamer January 2023.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was released in theaters on November 11, so almost two months have passed since its global launch. So surely it will arrive on one of the top streaming services soon?
Well, according to Disney Plus’ January 2023 release slate, it’s not coming just yet. However, Marvel and Disney usually announce in a separate press release when Marvel movies are coming to the streamer. Bottom line: stay with TechRadar for an official announcement coming soon.

When is Black Panther 2’s Disney Plus release date?
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has no official Disney Plus release date. The MCU Phase 4 movie hit theaters in November 2022, but we believe it will release in January 2023. That’s based on what we know about some of the best Disney Plus superhero movie releases.
First, Marvel movies don’t launch on Disney’s streaming platform immediately after their theatrical releases. Each film has a 45-day worldwide exclusivity period in cinemas. When Black Panther 2 was released precisely 45 days after November 11, it was scheduled to launch on Monday, December 26.
Unfortunately, that launch on December 26 will not take place. Marvel hasn’t released any of its post-Avengers: Endgame movies on Disney’s streamer this soon after their theatrical release. The exception to that rule is Black Widow, which got a day and date launch in theaters and on Disney Plus in July 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Furthermore, Disney traditionally releases new movies and TV shows on Wednesdays. That temporarily changed when She-Hulk: Attorney at Law debuted on Thursday (Aug. 18). This was due to the midweek episode of the Star Wars TV show Andor. Clearly, Marvel and Lucasfilm didn’t want their tentpole franchises competing for viewers on the same day.
If Black Panther 2 follows Marvel’s traditional Wednesday launch for Disney Plus releases, it’s coming out on Wednesday, December 28, right? No – and Eternals holds the key to why.
Eternals launched in theaters on November 5, 2021, but wasn’t available to stream on Disney Plus until January 12, 2022. That’s because Marvel co-released Spider-Man: No Way Home (along with Sony Pictures) in December 2021. in our opinion, Marvel didn’t want the Disney PLus launch of Eternals to clash with No Way Home’s theatrical run, as it might have distracted fans from going to No Way Home.
Add to that the fact that Wakanda Forever is still money – as of Dec. 16, it has grossed $789 million worldwide (per Box office Mojo (opens in new tab)) – and it’s not in Marvel’s financial interest to end its theatrical run and release it on Disney Plus (free, remember!) until after the holiday season.
All said and done, don’t expect Marvel to release Wakanda Forever on Disney Plus until mid-January 2023.
Is there a credits scene in Black Panther 2?
Yes, but there’s only one post-credits scene – not two – in Wakanda Forever.
We’ve broken down what that mid-credits sting means for the Black Panther film series (and wider MCU) in this Black Panther: Wakanda Forever ending and article explaining the post-credits scene. A deep dive into the more spoilery elements of the movie is needed, so only proceed if you’ve seen the movie.
What is the running time of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever?
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is two hours and 41 minutes long. That includes the only post-credits scene and the two credits sequences.
Interestingly enough, that makes Black Panther 2 the second longest MCU movie of all time. It’s only surpassed by Avengers: Endgame’s three-hour runtime, while it’s four minutes longer than the divisive Eternals flick.
