A brutal triple homicide in one of Mexico City’s most desirable neighborhoods has rocked the nation where murders are expected to exceed 35,000 by the end of 2022.

On Sunday, artist brothers Jorge, 34, and Andrés Tirado, 27, were found dead with their hands and feet tied and tape over their eyes, along with their elderly uncle, José González, 76, inside the basement of a mansion in North Rome. neighborhood, an area made famous by the 2018 Oscar-winning film Roma.

Police also found González’s wife, Margarita Ochoa, in the house, unharmed but handcuffed. The causes of death have not been made public.

At the time of this writing, authorities in Mexico blamed the gruesome murder on a property dispute. Friends said on social media that the brothers had been missing since December 16, according to the Attorney General’s Office.

The house was owned by an elderly aunt of the Tirado brothers who died in May 2022. The aunt’s nurse and her family lived on the ground floor of the house.

According to reports in Mexico, the nurse’s family had been arguing that they had inherited the house.

Roma Norte is one of the wealthiest and most fashionable neighborhoods in Mexico City and is popular with tourists coming from the United States.

The nurse is considered one of the main suspects in the horrible crime. After the relative’s death, José González and his wife, Margarita Ochoa, moved into the house, much to the annoyance of the nurse and her family.

In the midst of the dispute, González and Ochoa asked Jorge and Andrés to move into the house as well.

Ochoa, who was not injured in the attack, told authorities that her family was subjected to physical abuse and death threats from the nurse’s family. tv forum reports that Ochoa was left alive to force her to sign the deed to the house.

In addition to the murders, the assassins also robbed the brothers. Those arrested so far have been identified by the prosecution as Blanca Hilda Abrego Barreto, 65, the woman’s nurse, her daughter, Sally Mechaella Arenas Abrego, and her son-in-law, Azhuer Lara García.

The trio lived in an apartment on the ground floor of the house, located at Calle Medellín 115. The residence was considered part of their salary.

The attorney general’s office said information taken from Azhuer showed that he was in contact with someone via text message, discussing how to tie someone up.

Andrés was an aspiring actor and graduate of the Autonomous University of Mexico and had recently appeared in Sergio Mangana’s musical Frozen Income and in the play King Kong Cabaret.

On his last publicly visible Facebook page, Andrés wrote: ‘Stop generalizing the problem of violence. No problem in the history of the world has been solved by generalizations nor will it be solved.’

He added: “The generalization of ‘it’s the good guys against the bad guys’ is like wanting to cure all cancer with paracetamol.”

The winner of the Latin Grammy Award for Best New Artist, Silvana Estrada, lamented the brothers on Instagram. Local reports have described her as “close” to Jorge Tirado.

Estrada wrote: “I love you, Jorge.”

She continued: ‘You were my brother, my friend and my family. I am honored to know that we built such a strong friendship that even now I continue to embrace your love.

Estrada added: ‘I will honor the miracle of your life Jorge, the miracle of being a part of it, the miracle that your brother became my brother too, and that this sick, miserable, brutal world was made bright and beautiful because of you. Nothing will ever be the same without you.

Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum also expressed her dismay at the killings. She describing it as a ‘painful homicide’ On twitter. Sheinbaum is a possible candidate for the presidency of Mexico and her campaign will be based on the low crime rate of the capital.

He also appeared in the films Peña de Lobos and Besos Negors. A vigil for the brothers will be held in Roma Norte at Sister Cities Park at 11 am on Christmas Day.

The discovery of the bodies occurred when another relative of the family went to the home after not hearing from Jorge and Andrés. Blanca’s family denied her entry. After that, the family member made a complaint to the police who started an investigation.

Blanca’s grandson Randy and another woman named Hilda have also been arrested for their part in the crime.

Among those who mourned the brothers was the presenter of the Mexican version of Master Chef Celebrity, Betty Vázquez, who asked for prayers for the Tirado family, adding: “One more family plunged in pain.”

While actor Eduardo España tweeted that he was in “shock” and noted that Mexico is seeing “more and more cases.”

Despite the relatively low homicide rate in Mexico City, there are more than 3,000 people who are considered missing in the Mexican capital. Nationwide, there are more than 100,000 missing people.

Mexico City authorities say 2022 will see the lowest number of homicides in the city since 2007.
