The House January 6 Committee report released Thursday night contains photographic images yet to be seen by the public to help tell the story of the historic day, including an inside view of Mike Pence looking down at the president who he said he lacked “courage”.

Pence’s image shows the former vice president inside an underground garage in the Capitol complex, where testimony has already revealed that he insisted on staying and told his security team that he would not go.

The Capitol riot had halted the counting of the Electoral College votes, and Pence did not want to leave before he completed his role. The report calls the riots part of a multi-step effort to “overturn the 2020 election and block the transfer of power.”

With rioters breaking windows on Capitol Hill and fighting police, officials and Trump family members deluged White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, urging him to intervene with Trump, while key figures like Ivanka Trump flocked directly to the president.

As the report details, after sending out a couple of tweets that aides deemed insufficient, Trump finally went to the Rose Garden between 4:03 p.m. and 4:07 p.m. that day to record a video addressing the situation. Aides had been pleading with him for hours as the riot raged to tell his supporters to leave the Capitol and go home.

An image released by the House January 6 committee shows Trump pointing to thousands of people gathered for his speech that day, many outside a security perimeter.

Another image shows Trump standing in a tent outside the White House near the Ellipse, where he called on people to “fight like hell.” Joining him are his son Eric Trump and his daughter Ivanka Trump, a senior White House adviser at the time.

Trump can be seen pointing at a flat screen covered with footage of the crowd. The report notes that thousands of people did not want to pass the security check that day and instead remained outside the perimeter.

On the screen are five separate shots of the crowd, as well as graphics reading ‘Save America March’ and ‘The Best is Yet to Come!’

According to the report, the ‘Secret Service confiscated a loot of weapons from the 28,000 spectators who passed through the magnetometers: 242 canisters of pepper spray, 269 knives or cleaver, 18 brass knuckles, 18 tasers, 6 pieces of bulletproof vests, 3 gas masks , 30 batons or blunt instruments, and 17 miscellaneous items such as scissors, needles, or screwdrivers.’

According to the report, the script for Trump’s Rose Garden speech read: “I ask that you leave the Capitol region NOW and go home in a peaceful manner.” Trump told protesters they were “special” and said, “I know your pain.” I know you’re hurt… We had an election that was stolen from us. It was a landslide choice and everyone knows it, but now you have to go home.

The report is interspersed with graphics, including one showing states certified by real voters to reflect votes cast and “fake voters” who were part of a scheme to create rival pro-Trump voters.

Another passage in the report details a standoff over crowd safety practices and quotes Meadows’ former close aide Cassidy Hutchinson.

So when President Trump arrived at the rally site and was able to see the crowd for himself, “[h]I was fucking furious,ā€ as Cassidy Hutchinson later texted. [agent Tony Ornato].

Hutchinson testified that minutes before addressing the crowd, President Trump yelled at his advance team: “I don’t [f***ing] Be careful they have weapons. They are not here to hurt me. take the [f***- ing] distance magazines. Let my people in. You can march to the Capitol from here. take the [f***ing] distance magazines.
