“Keep Buckeye forward lineman Avery Henry in your thoughts and prayers,” local Columbus sportscaster Clay Hall tweeted. He revealed tonight on social media that he has osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer. I shot a feature film with Avery in September as he adjusted the 6-6, 300lbs for a custom suit. He also looked good in that suit. Better.’
Osteosarcoma is a form of cancer that attacks the cells that make up bone. It is found predominantly on the legs and arms. Unlike many other forms of cancer, it is most common in adolescents and young adults. Treatment ranges from chemotherapy and surgery to radiation therapy.
The Buckeyes are set to play in the first leg of the college football playoff on December 31 against the top-ranked and undefeated defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs.
Running back Dallan Hayden also offered his support for Henry on social media.
