Another White House term for Donald Trump could mean a review of free speech standards, including the federal government’s ban on using terms like “misinformation” and “disinformation” when referring to national speech.

The former president’s promise was made as part of a nearly seven-minute video posted on Truth Social on Thursday.

Trump, 76, also vowed to impose a seven-year ban on former FBI and CIA workers from handling private sector consumer records in the US.

This comes after the ‘Twitter Files’ bombing revealed that the former FBI general counsel, who was recently fired as Twitter’s Deputy General Counsel, was able to review records given to reporters that contained internal communications at the social media company. .

Republicans say Democrats will not take action to remedy social media censorship and apparent First Amendment violations because it disproportionately affects conservative voices.

“The censorship cartel must be dismantled and destroyed, and it must happen immediately,” Trump said in the video.

He promised to sign an executive order “within hours of my inauguration…prohibiting any federal department or agency from colluding with any organization, business, or person, to censor, limit, categorize, or impede the legitimate speech of American citizens.”

Trump claims that the federal government should not have any ability to control national speech.

This is a clear break with President Joe Biden, who earlier this year attempted to form a Disinformation Board within the Department of Homeland Security, before public outcry and congressional pressure immediately led to the board’s dissolution.

“I will then prohibit federal money from being used to label national speech as ‘bad’ or ‘disinformation,'” Trump said in his video.
