The National Archives warned President Joe Biden’s lawyers last month that hundreds of emails related to Hunter Biden and his business deal with Burisma were scheduled to be released.

Insider broke the story and said the White House has yet to say whether Biden would stop the release of 185 emails and 75 partial emails alleging executive privilege. Otherwise, the emails will be published on February 28.

A representative for the Archives contacted White House counsel Stuart Delery, Biden campaign attorney Robert Lenhard, and senior Obama Foundation officials on November 30 to inform them that records related to Biden’s vice presidency were being published under the Freedom of Information Act.

One of the aforementioned FOIA requests asked for “records relating to Hunter Biden, James Biden, and their foreign dealings.”

James Biden is the president’s brother.

“The Biden VP records to be unsealed are emails from May 2014 to December 2014 that include the company name ‘Burisma’,” the letter continues.

He says several of those messages are press inquiries after Hunter Biden joined the board of Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings Limited.

Other emails are news articles compiled by White House staff about the addition of Hunter Biden to the board, wrote Susan Donius of the Archives.

Overall, the Archives said it processed 282 emails as part of the Hunter-related FOIA request and would retain 22 emails in full and another 75 in part.

The letter did not say why certain emails were being withheld.

Biden’s and Obama’s legal teams have 60 days to determine whether to keep the messages secret under the Presidential Records Act. Attorneys may also request a one-time 30-day extension.

Critics of the Bidens, including former President Donald Trump, have pointed out that Hunter Biden previously had no experience in the energy sector, but was paid up to $83,333 a month to serve on Burisma’s board.

Trump’s first impeachment trial centered on his request to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to launch an investigation into this trade deal while withholding $400 million in military aid approved by Ukraine’s Congress.
