This is the terrifying moment the slingshot ride at Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park broke last night, leaving two cyclists believed to have been injured.

The seating booth on the fairground ride at London’s popular Christmas attraction crashed into the support beam with men trapped inside.

A video on social media shows two people sitting in the spherical metal capsule while a mechanism tightens the ropes that launch it into the air like a slingshot.

But when the pull is released for launch, instead of going straight up on the springy power of both ropes, one snaps, and the remaining band snaps back, sending the scabbard sideways and crashing into the support.

The seating pod, with passengers still inside, was launched all the way to the left, as it appears that the slingshot cable on the right side of the ride did not provide any impulse.

The cable appears to partly break when the passenger sphere is thrown towards one of the game’s metal brackets near the top of the structure.

After hitting the beam, the seating pod hung on its side with presumably terrified passengers inside. Witnesses told MailOnline the couple were taken to hospital, but their condition is unknown.

Shocked revelers watched as the ride crashed and some gasped loudly as it happened.
