Evan Peters admitted that he “really struggled” initially to agree to play the role of Jeffrey Dahmer and would now like to play a “lighter” character.
The 35-year-old actor plays the notorious serial killer, convicted of murdering 17 men between 1978 and 1991, in the Netflix Dahmer miniseries – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.
He previously revealed that he spent months in character as serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer before filming the controversial series.

The hit show premiered in September and was the second most watched English-language Netflix series of all time, with 1 billion hours watched in its first 60 days.
In an article with Varietyrevealed during a conversation with creator Ryan Murphy that he went “back and forth” before deciding he was “up for the challenge”.
He felt it was “difficult but worth it” to tell the story and share the intended message of the show.
Peters plays the notorious serial killer, convicted of murdering 17 men between 1978 and 1991, in the hit Netflix limited series.
“It was a real struggle,” he said. “I was really thinking about it and trying to process it.”
He continued: ‘I was back and forth a lot. I knew you are an amazing support system and I trust you and there is an honesty there.
“I knew that with the goal in mind to finish this as strong as I started it, you would create a great safety net,” he added.

“If I fall, I could get back up and we could finish this,” he said. He was up for the challenge.
The American Horror Story star, who now wants to move to a “lighter” role for his next project, added that he had “no appetite” for the first few episodes of the ten-part series.
After cutting out carbs and sugar in an attempt to lose 15 pounds, she found herself exercising mid-session to mirror what the serial killer would have looked like in prison.
Future Plans: She said she wants to “take a little break from the darker roles and explore the light.”
“I really had no appetite during the early stages of shooting,” he said.
“Then he was working out for episode three when Dahmer starts working out and he gained about 20 pounds only to end up in prison to show what he looked like back then.”
The Mare of Easttown star said she’d like a change of pace for her future projects.
He said, “It would be interesting for me to play something that’s a little closer to home, a little more mundane, and explore the details of those kinds of experiences.”
The X-Men alum said: “I’m going to take a little break from the darker roles and explore the light.”

Earlier this week, Peters was nominated for a Golden Globe, in the category of Best Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or TV Movie, for his portrayal of the serial killer.
