Warrior Nun canceled after two seasons on Netflix

Just a month after the debut of the second season on Netflix, the streaming service has ended the action-drama series Warrior Nun starring Alba Baptista, who was confirmed to be dating Chris Evans last month.

While Netflix, like most streamers, does not release specific viewership data, Warrior Nun spent three weeks in the Netflix Top 10, peaking at #5, via Term.

The show had a small but dedicated fan base, although it was apparently not enough to warrant a third season.

The second season debuted on November 10 and spanned eight seasons, and the show’s devoted fan base began with the hashtag #SaveWarriorNun on Twitter.

The cancellation comes amid an industry-wide belt-tightening, with HBO Max making headlines for removing popular shows like Westworld from its streaming service, so it wouldn’t have to pay waste to the cast and crew.

Warrior Nun season 2 also premiered just months after Netflix cut 150 jobs in May, following its first loss of subscribers in a decade, with another 300 layoffs announced in June.
