A woman was left upset after discovering a fried bug embedded in one of her KFC fries.

Queensland woman Hannah Stephens shared photos of her KFC meal on the ‘Tea Time’ Facebook group on Sunday night, revealing the crunchy bug found inside the chip.

The insect appeared to be almost as wide as the potato chip it was fried in, leaving social media users horrified.

The vile find was more than enough for Ms. Stephens to pull the plug on the fast food chain for good, saying “like I’m going to eat there again.”

Ms Stephens reported the discovery to KFC and updated her post as soon as the fast food giant contacted her.

“Lol KFC gave me $20 off…Sorry but $20 doesn’t make up for that crap,” he wrote.

He also said he had contacted the Queensland health department and is awaiting a response.

The post drew more than 300 comments from mortified members of the Facebook group.

“I would have been crying and throwing up,” one member commented.

“The fact that you ate half the box means there’s a good chance you ate other bugs,” replied another.

The insect appeared to be a damsel with distinctive bulging eyes and a needle-like mouth that it uses to hunt for mites, aphids, and insect eggs.

Damselfish bugs are usually found on row crops and trees and can sometimes be used by gardeners to destroy moth eggs.

The stomach-churning find comes after a man from Kwinana, south Perth, found a used food-safe glove at the bottom of his box of KFC fries in October.

‘You may want to avoid KFC for a while. Dirty used gloves found in a box of potato chips,” she wrote in a Facebook post.

That same month, a video posted to social media showed teenage workers at a Queensland KFC licking cooked chicken and clutching lettuce with their bare hands.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted KFC for comment.
