A teenager who died from a knife wound may have tripped and fell on the blade he was holding in a tragic and freak accident.

Police earlier reported that an 18-year-old had been killed in an alleged stabbing on Friday night in West Birriley Street, Bomaderry, on the south coast of New South Wales.

They were called to the scene at 7pm, along with NSW Ambulance paramedics, who treated the man on scene before he was rushed to Shoalhaven Hospital in critical condition.

But the 18-year-old died shortly after arriving.

Detectives are now investigating the possibility that the young man died as a result of an accidental self-inflicted stab wound to the chest, the daily telegraph informed.

Officers interviewed five witnesses, who were at the same address at the time, who gave similar accounts.

They reported seeing the victim playing with a large knife in a driveway before tripping and falling on him.

He got up but quickly collapsed, holding his chest.

“About 7pm yesterday, officers from the South Coast Police District were called to West Birriley Street, Bomaderry, following reports that an 18-year-old male had suffered chest injuries,” a statement said. from the police.

Paramedics from the NSW Ambulance treated the man at the scene before he was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital in critical condition; however, he died shortly thereafter.’
